Australian companies and brands contribute to dynamic Philippine trade and economy
Australia’s deep and broad-based relationship with the Philippines encompasses not only development assistance, defence, security and people-to-people links, but includes trade and economic ties developed through decades of mutual cooperation and exchange.
Two-way trade between the two countries are valued at approximately A$3 billion per annum, with more than 200 Australian companies in the Philippines significantly contributing to the latter’s economic well-being. Their commercial and economic contributions involve employment for thousands of Filipinos, payment of local taxes, as well as the purchase and use of local materials, goods and services of domestic companies and individuals.
A number of these global Australian companies have thrown their support behind the Australia Day celebration this year and are helping to make the festival a success. These include ANZ, Aspen, Aurecon, Austal, Australian International School, Cardno, Crone Partners, IDP, Indophil Resources, Macquarie, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), OceanaGold, QBE, Site Skills and Telstra.
Global Aussie brands have also seen fit to enter the Philippine market and contribute to the local economy and the vibrant Pinoy lifestyle. Last Saturday, 24 January, the Celebrate Australia 2015 Community Fashion Show – highlight of this year’s festivities – was held at the Glorietta Activity Centre, featuring Australian fashion brands BYS Cosmetics, Cotton On, Ever New, Hoster and Rip Curl.
ANZ BANK
