AUSTRALIAN HIGHER EDUCATION SHOWCASE 2011 OFFERS STUDY OPTIONS DOWN UNDER
The Australian Embassy is holding Future Unlimited- Australian Higher Education Showcase 2011 on 15 November 3:30pm – 6:30pm at the Grand Ballroom of New World Hotel, Makati City to give Filipinos an opportunity to learn more about Australia’s premier education system.
Organised by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), Future Unlimited will include seminars and individual consultations on Australian education offerings, application procedures and visa requirements.
“Future Unlimited aims to provide prospective Filipino students and professionals insights on Australian education institutions that are consistently ranked among the best in the world,” Ambassador Rod Smith said.
Participating Australian education institutions include the Australian Catholic University, Bond University, Central Queensland University, Deakin University, Griffith University, Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney, University of Wollongong and Victoria University.
IDP Pty. Ltd. in the Philippines is also conducting an Australian Education Exhibition on 18 November in Cebu at the Cebu Marriot Hotel and on 19 November in Manila at the Hotel Intercontinental Makati.
Australia is increasingly emerging as a favoured destination for Filipinos looking for quality international education. According to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the number of visa grants to Filipino students has more than doubled in the last four years, from 1453 students in 2006-2007 to 2,953 students in 2009-10. As a consequence, at June 2010 there were 4,240 Filipino Student visa holders in Australia.
Vocational Education and Training sector accounted for 50 per cent of all visa grants, while a further 34 per cent of students enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate course in Australia.
Australian universities and training institutions are known for their reputation for excellence in all areas of education and training. They have produced world-class scientists and inventors who have made critical contributions in the fields of medicine, electronics, transportation and communication, and thus improving the lives of millions around the world.
