QUEENSLAND TRADE MISSION SEEKS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PHILIPPINES
Members of the Brisbane-based Chamber of Commerce and Industry Australia Philippines Inc (CCIAP) visited Manila and Cebu recently to explore business opportunities with key leaders of the Philippine mining, agribusiness, tourism and education sectors.
The Philippine Business Trade Mission, led by CCIAP President, Filipino-Australian Connie da Cunha, and the Philippine Commission on Higher Education Technical Panel Chair, Oscar Torralba called on Australian Ambassador Rod Smith to discuss the Philippine Australia trade relationship. They also met with Trade Secretary Domingo and members of the Australia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (ANZCHAM).
Ambassador Smith encouraged CCIAP members to raise awareness of the opportunities available for both countries under the ASEAN Australia New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA), which entered into force on 1 January 2010, and expressed his appreciation for their efforts in fostering stronger trade linkages between Australia and the Philippines.
