FIL-AUS COMMUNITY TO HOLD GRAND PHILIPPINE FIESTA IN SYDNEY
Philippine Australian Sports & Culture (PASC) president Manny Castillo (second from left) recently called on Australian Charge d’Affaires Steve Scott (far right) in preparation for the 21st Grand Philippine Sydney Fiesta Kultura to be held on 18 October.
The Grand Philippine Sydney Fiesta Kultura is one of the largest community festivals in Australia, attracting up to 40,000 people and has been described as the biggest gathering of Filipinos at an event outside the Philippines.
The fiesta will include a trade and tourism expo; a food extravaganza featuring Philippine cuisine; and a cultural display showcasing Philippine artistic heritage.
“Australia is a unique blend of diverse people, influences and traditions and Filipinos living in Australia are a significant part of its vibrant culture,” Mr Scott said.
“Australia is home to more than 200,000 people of Filipino descent who make valuable contributions to Australian society including in commerce, health, education, and information technology.”
Also joining the courtesy call were (from L-R) PASC Sports Director Mr Rene Opilas, Ms Philippines-Australia Nicole Schmitz and Ms Charity Queen-Australia Ayris Brown.
