AUSTRALIA PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO TYPHOON FRANK VICTIMS IN ILOILO

On a recent visit to Iloilo, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith and Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Chairman Senator Richard Gordon (seated 1st & 2nd from right) interact with a family in the community of Santa Barbara who benefited from the shelter assistance project for the victims of Typhoon Frank. The Australian Government, through AusAID, contributed Php20 million to PNRC’s emergency assistance to the typhoon’s worst hit area, Panay Island, particularly Iloilo. Australian assistance was used to provide food aid to 20,000 families (approximately 100,000 persons) in Panay Island and shelter reconstruction for 300 families in the Province of Iloilo.
