VISIT TO PACAP SITE IN NUEVA VALENCIA, GUIMARAS
Australian Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Stephen Scott (seated, center) recently visited and met with community leaders of Barangay La Paz, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras for the 'Halad sa Guimaras' project. Funded by the Australian Government’s international aid agency, AusAID, through the Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program (PACAP) and implemented by the Lopez Group Foundation, this multi-component project has helped the community rebuild their lives after the oil spill in August 2006. Assistance was provided for agri-farm development, livelihood support and watershed rehabilitation resulting in increased productivity and income. The project exemplifies an effective partnership of civil society, private sector business, NGOs, local government and donors.
