AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY SUPPORTS CONSTRUCTION OF TRAINING CENTRE IN SMOKEY MOUNTAIN
More than 1,000 residents from the Smokey Mountain Reclamation Area are expected to benefit from a training centre to be constructed at the Philippine Christian Foundation, Inc (PCF) School in Tondo with the assistance of the Australian Government.
The training centre, which is currently being constructed with funding provided through the Australian Embassy’s Direct Aid Program (DAP), will provide community members with an opportunity to undertake livelihood skills and training courses, such as stuffed toy and bag-making, to augment their household income. They will also have access to PCF’s health and social services as well as training in financial planning and family counselling.
Australian Embassy DAP Secretary, Rick Adams (back row, centre) recently visited the school for a site inspection and was welcomed by PCF students led by Special Projects Coordinator Ms Lynie Pispisano (standing, far left). The centre is expected to open in May.
