Strong Australia–Philippines connections with launch of new Brisbane-Cebu route

Cebu, Philippines (3 December 2025) – Jetstar today launched its inaugural service connecting Brisbane, Australia, and Cebu, Philippines, marking a major new chapter in aviation between the two nations. It’s also the first scheduled service to a destination in the Philippines outside of Manila.

The new route will not only enhance tourism but also strengthen trade, investment and cultural ties between Australia and the Philippines. Since 2004, Jetstar has grown from an Australian low-cost carrier into one of the Asia-Pacific’s leading airlines, serving millions across a network of more than 50 destinations.

“This is a tangible demonstration of the Australian Government’s commitment to do more business with the Philippines and facilitate greater economic links,” Australia’s Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown said.

“The timing of the introduction of this service will hopefully make a contribution to Cebu’s recovery from the terrible typhoon a few weeks ago.”

Aviation links are a key facilitator of greater people-to-people and business links and prosperity.

In September, Australia and the Philippines updated their bilateral air services arrangements. The two countries agreed to double passenger capacity from 35 to 70 weekly services to major Australian cities by Q4 2026, expand traffic rights for dedicated cargo services, and increase codeshare opportunities for airlines of both countries.
