INTRODUCTION:
Adults who are are running out of passport pages and apply for a replacement Australian passport using the Australian Passport Renewal Application Form if the following applies:
- you are an adult (over 18 years old) or you are an adult (over 18 years old) who is renewing from a child passport and your most recent child passport was issued when you were 16 years or older, AND
- you are not changing any of your personal details on the passport, AND
- your most recent passport has not been reported lost/stolen AND
- your existing passport must have more than two years validity remaining, AND
- you are able to present your current passport at the passport appointment, AND
- you are able to answer the security questions to print the form.
Replacement Passports generally cost less than normal passports, and in some cases are free, but they aren’t valid for a fixed ten or five-year period. Instead, a replacement passport is valid only until the expiry date of the passport it replaces.
1. Complete your renewal application form online
- The application must be lodged within six months of completion.
- You cannot download blank forms.
2. Print and sign your application form
- Print your application on plain white A4 paper, using black ink only. Make sure your form has printed in full and isn't cut off at the top or bottom of the page.
- US standard letter paper or US legal paper sizes are also acceptable, but only if they’re scaled properly. Refer to more information on printing your application form
- Sign and date the form using black pen, within the signature box.
3. Photos
- Two recent identical colour photos, taken less than six months from the application submission with your full name and signature written on the back of one photo. Refer to photo guidelines for more information.
- Your photos do not need to be signed or endorsed by a guarantor.
- Do NOT attach the photos to the form as this may damage them.
Some photo shops may not have the most updated Australian passport photo specifications. Home-printed photos are usually not acceptable as there are strict requirements. Please carefully check the Passport photo guidelines to avoid rejection.
The “crown of head” is where the top of your skull would be if it were visible. It is not the top of your hair or the start of your hairline.

Things to bring:
- The completed and signed Australian Passport Renewal Application form.
- Two passport photos (see Step 3).
- Your most recent Australian passport. It is important to bring your most recent passport to be eligible for a passport replacement.
- A (Mastercard/Visa) credit or debit card to pay the fee or manager's check (Philippine Pesos only) payable to ''Australian Embassy in the Philippines''.
- Prepaid self-address envelope from a courier service (if you wish to have the passport delivered to you). The Embassy is aware that this service is available from JRS Express courier service. There are JRS offices near the Embassy - please inquire with your passport officer during the interview.
Cancelling or rescheduling your appointment
You will be sent an email notification through setmore.com each time an appointment is booked – it will contain an appointment cancellation/modification link and will appear as per below:
- If you want to modify an appointment, click "Reschedule" and you will receive a message on a new tab allowing you to modify the appointment.
- If you want to cancel an appointment, click "Cancel Appointment" and you will receive a message on a new tab asking you to confirm cancellation.

Processing Times:
Processing time is a minimum of six (6) weeks - you are discouraged from making any travel plans if you do not have a valid passport.
Express options are not available for applications lodged outside of Australia.
