    AUSTRALIAN SUPPORT TO MUSLIM EDUCATION

Romulo Neri (left) visit Quezon Elementary School in Davao City to observe students in an Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) class. ALIVE is a component of the Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM) Project of the Dept. of Education (DepEd) and the Australian Government through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). BEAM assists DepEd in introducing ALIVE subjects into the curriculum of public schools located within Muslim communities. BEAM likewise assists madaris (Muslim schools) obtain DepEd recognition and trains madrasah administrators in school management, improves teaching competencies of teachers, limited facility upgrade and materials development.
