Australia is increasingly emerging as a favoured destination for Filipinos looking for quality international education. According to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, the number of visa grants to Filipino students has more than doubled in the last four years, from 1453 students in 2006-2007 to 2,953 students in 2009-10. As a consequence, at June 2010 there were 4,240 Filipino Student visa holders in Australia.

Vocational Education and Training sector accounted for 50 per cent of all visa grants, while a further 34 per cent of students enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate course in Australia.

Australian universities and training institutions are known for their reputation for excellence in all areas of education and training. They have produced world-class scientists and inventors who have made critical contributions in the fields of medicine, electronics, transportation and communication, and thus improving the lives of millions around the world.
